My field of research is U.S. History and the three quotes I found relating to that field are:

[Page 128]: The Iraq War also provides a nice example of another form of confirmation bias. At a point when conditions on the ground were plainly deteriorating, then-President George W. Bush argued otherwise by, in the words of the journalist George Packer, "interpreting increased violence in Iraq as a token of the enemy's frustration with american success."

[Page 7]: The second (infamously deployed by, among others, Richard Nixon regarding Watergate and Ronald Reagan regarding the Iran-Contra affair) is even more telling: we say, "mistakes were made."

[Page 273]: On April 4, 1968, the day that Martin Luther King Jr., was killed, Claiborne Paul Ellis threw a party. At the same time, Ellis owned and operated a gas station in Durham, North Carolina- and, on the side, ran the Durham branch of the Ku Klux Klan. When the local radio station announced the assassination, he let out a whoop and began calling his fellow Klansmen, inviting them over to celebrate King's death. "We just had a real party at the service station," he would later tell the famed journalist Studs Terkel, "really rejoycin' 'cause that sonofabitch was dead."

For my paper focusing on the philosophies of an individual’s attitude of wrongness, I will be using pages, 21-21; 28-29; 55-56; 70-72; 91-93; as well as a large number of references cited in the Notes section of the book “Being Wrong,” by Kathryn Schultz. The entire book has a question and answer tone that lends well with working philosophy.

My fields/disciplines are (Liberal Studies) Educatian and Business

Quotes from Being Wrong that relate to my fields are:

Pg.100
"....kids of this age are stupendous thinkers. They speak and understand their native language with ease, and add words and concepts with a rapidity that is the envy of every adult. They are insatiably curious, highly attentive to the world around them, and capable of impressive feats of memory and concentration. They understand cause and effect and can reason about when, why, and how things happen."

Pg.119
"when it comes to multiple-choice quizzes, we are all comfortable with the idea that we make the best guess we can based on whatever evidence we already have."

Pg.87
"On October 23, 2008, Alan Greenspan, the former chair of the Federal Reserve, appeared before a committee of the U.S. House of Representatives to testify about the financial crisis that had lately engulfed more or less the entire Planet."
"Those who trusted the market to regulate itself, youself included, made a serious mistake."

Pg.274
"In 1970, the federal government funneled $75 million to North Carolina to desegregate its schools. That money should have been unnecessary--sixteen years earlier, the Supreme Court had declared, in Brown v. Board of Education...."
"The federal funds were divvied up, and $80,000 was earmarked for a series of workshops to persuade Durham's citizens to cooperate in integration."

Quotes related to Criminal Justice and History from Being Wrong are:

Pg.36
"We are highly motivated to seek out thr reality-altering power of drugs, despite the danger of overdose, addiction, or arrest."

Pg.234
"That kid was named Jimmy Ray Bromgard, and in short order he was arrested, convicted (on the basis of the girl's testimoy and a state forensic expert who claimed that Bromgard's hair matched those found at the crime scene), and sentenced to forty years in prison."

Pg.242
"I really believe that 99.9 percent of police would never intentionally target the wrong person, but there can be such a huge amount of tunnel vision. She knows, because she experienced it herself. When people would say, 'Couldn't Steven be innocent?,' I would immediately remind myself of all the evidence that seemed to point to his guilt."

Pg.73
"The subjects in the 1977 study of the Kennedy assassination described their recollections of that event as "burned on their brain," and as vivid "as if it happened yesterday."

Pg.214
"George W. Bush availed himself of it in 2006, when he claimed-in responce to opinion polls indicating that 70 percent of Americans disapproved of jis handling of the Iraq War- that he would be vindicated by "the long march of history."

Pg.312
"According to Rousseau, then, error could be combated by letting the people vote for their nation's leaders and policies. According to Jefferson, it could be combated by letting them speak their minds. Direct election and freedom of speech-these are, respectively, the definition and the emblem of democracy."

My fields of research are History and Psychology.

Pg 146: "The country is almost evenly split between Catholics and protestants -and, in 1947, it almost actually did split between them, when a civil war broke out between the predominantly Catholic and predominantly Protestant cantons."

pg 147: "To some extent -and especially during the early years of the battle over women's suffrage -they relied on the same arguments that were used all over the world: that political participation rendered women unfeminine."

For my field of interest I will use pages 67-86 because the author speaks of the reason humans make decisions and believe they are right when in reality they are wrong. This is related to psychology.

Bussiness, History, & Culinary Arts

Page. 117 there is an infinate amount of possibilities to an answer. In culinary arts there are no right ways to make a meal. One can place or take away anything they like.

Page. 137 the idea of popular opinion. can say one is not right (& they really are)yet the majority rules it is wrong then it is wrong. no matter what happens one is dipicted as wrong but by the out look of the major crowed. this can go with any field of education.

Page. 138 to refect an idea beacuse it's foreign or public opinions states it's wrong. this can also occur in any filed. this can occur when someone proposes an idea to help out the company to tast or even to fix the past. these ideas can be rejected because of the simple fcat that it is not known or rare.

Page 138. "if everybody's doing it, it must be a good idea." WRONG!! This would be a good one for history. It can shape many peoples ideas if everyone is doing it then that means that okay it's fine for me to try it. that would be good if it was something like church. But the majority of the time it's for drugs of alchol.

Page. 138 "the greater the number of people who belive something, the more likely it is to be true." This is how Hittler convinced huge number of people. This is great for histroy as well.

My field is Criminal Justice. I found a related quote.

{Pg. 112}: "It is a testament to how far the legal profession has come that few things seem more antithetical to the spirit of justice today than the admission of so-called spectral evidence."

(Pg 4) "A whole lot of us go through life assuming that we are basically right, basically all the time, about basically everything: about our political and intellectual convictions, our religious and moral beliefs, our assessment of other pepole, our memories, our grasp of facts." (Pg 10) "The difference between being wrong about your car keys and being wrong about weapons of mass destruction is the different between "oops" and a global military crisis." I will also be using a couple references she used on pages 50, 85, and 108. Have yet to get any farther in the book.

My field of research is Biology and these are a few things i found relating to this field:

[page 56]: second paragraph it talks about our senses and how they are perceptions of our mind and our surroundings " The first is sensation, in which our nervous system responds to a piece of information from our environment".

[Page57]"the blind spot is part of the eye were the optic nerve passes through the retina preventing any visual processing from taking place..... Our Brain automatically corrects the problem through a a process known as coherencing."

[page61] last paragraph to the bottom of the page. Speaks about illusions and how they mislead our process to give the correct answer, but are still a normal part of are process of thinking and it's a normal operation of our brain, visual and auditory senses.

"Even the Criminal Justice system, although far from reform-minded these days, has one foot rooted a tradition of repentance and transformation" (Schulz 7).
